Omaha (KPTM)- Health care reform is still a hot topic all across the nation.
A bus is traveling the country trying to get the word out about the need for reform. Today people in Omaha had a chance to have their voices heard.
A little rain didn't dampen the spirits of the nearly 50 people who showed up at memorial park to voice their opinion of the current health care system.
"Right now the problem I'm seeing is that the cost of health insurance is going up at 3 times the cost of anybody's wage increases, if that keeps up we're going to be in a world of hurt," says John Kretzschmar of Omaha.
The Highway to Healthcare Reform Tour was put on by the American federation of state, county and municipal employees.
"The highway 2 health care reform tour is a rock and roll themed tour, we are going from Montana down to Louisiana and up to Maine. We are talking to Americans about what's in this health care reform legislation for them," says Blaine Rummel with the Reform Tour.
That legislation is still up in the air, but lowering its cost is something everyone can get behind.
"People really are, the majority of Americans really are for real health care reform that lowers costs and guarantees quality affordable coverage," says Rummel.
Even though most of the people at today's event were in favor of health care reform, they know that discussion from both sides of the fence is how improvements will come.
"I don't have any problem with whoever on what side wants to come out and protest. Everybody has a right to their opinion, they don't necessarily have the right to their own set of facts but they have the right to their own opinion. I don't have a problem with talking and debating and discussing what need to be done and what are the problems and how best to solve them," says Kretzschmar.
The highway to health care bus also made a stop in Lincoln this afternoon.
