Omaha-(KPTM)  After a brief search the Omaha Public Library board of trustees has chosen Gary Wasdin as the new executive director for the library system. Wasdin was previously the assistant dean of the University of Alabama Libraries and has several years of experience in leadership positions with other library systems in New York.

Library board of trustee's president and chair of the search committee Kevin Thompson stated, "Our board and search committee were very pleased with the strong number of candidates for the position, and we are extremely excited that Gary accepted our offer. Gary will bring a wealth of knowledge and strategic leadership skills to Omaha Public Library. He definitely has the skills and ability to help guide Omaha Public Library to even greater accomplishments." 

Wasdin will start on January 4th 2010.
