Leah Uko is a video journalist for FOX 42 News. She joined the news team in July 2012 from KAGS-HD News, an NBC affiliate in Bryan, Texas.

In Texas, Leah covered the severe drought, wildfires, Texas A&M news and other breaking news in the Brazos County.

Before she moved to the Lone Star State, Leah was born and raised in sunny Southern California. She knew as a child she would work in the news industry after watching the O.J. Simpson murder trial, JonBenét Ramsey murder case and Bush v. Gore Florida Recount Election on the news with her parents.

"I saw how glued they were to the TV—watching developments everyday and I saw how these stories had every parent in my neighborhood talking," she said. "I said to myself, ‘who are the people telling us about this stuff? How do they know all this information?' I thought they were so smart and beautiful and knew I wanted to be like them."

Leah received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies – Communications and a minor in Journalism from the University of California, Riverside. While pursuing her degree, she interned at KTLA, KNBC, TODAY Show and KABC in the greater Los Angeles area.

After graduating she reported and produced at Torrance CitiCABLE 3 and freelance reported at LA 36.

Leah is a Larry McCormick Scholarship recipient and proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

When she is not chasing the latest news story Leah is at the gym, the mall or at home reading, cooking and chatting on the phone with family and friends.

Shoot Leah an email, "Like" her on Facebook and follow her on Twitter to stay connected, send her story ideas or news tips.
