OMAHA (KPTM) - More than 200 people poured through the doors at the Dundee Elementary School on Wednesday night.
They were there to find a solution about how to stop the random acts of violence in their community.
"Dundee never fails to amaze me," said Bridget Fitzpatrick with the Neighborhood Watch Program. "You've made it apparent that you don't want bad guys here."
Nearly three weeks after the murder of 11-year-old Thomas Hunter and 57-year-old Shirlee Sherman, neighbors and community leaders joined together to help jump start a Neighborhood Watch program and a Citizen Patrol group.
"Citizen patrols are not vigilantes," said Chris Costantakos, a Citizen Patrol organizer.
The Omaha Police Department was also on hand - encouraging neighbors to keep their eyes and ears open, and call 911 if they see something out of the ordinary.
"Don't be afraid to call 911," said Cpt.Rock with the OPD. "We are in the business to be bothered."
Safety brochures were handed out to everyone who attended the meeting, and questions were taken from the audience. However, no questions were addressed regarding the Dundee murder investigation. Organizers say, the point of the meeting was to organize a Citizen Patrol and Neighborhood Watch program.
So far, no arrests have been made in the Dundee murder. A $25,000 award is still being offered for information leading to an arrest.
