OMAHA (KPTM) - Former Husker running back Thunder Collins appeared in court Friday morning, and will be held without bond.
Collins was charged with first degree murder and attempted second degree murder.
Prosecutors say Collins actually fired the weapon that killed Tim Thomas Tuesday afternoon near 70th and Military.
Collins was arrested Wednesday morning.
Collins' attorney, James Martin Davis of Omaha, says police and prosecutors are "totally off the mark" with their belief that the shooting stemmed from a drug deal gone bad.
Davis says Collins has denied shooting anyone in the Tuesday melee. Davis says Collins told him he was in a fistfight with others when a friend came to his aid and shot two men.
Another man, Karnel Burton, has also been arrested and charged in the case.
