Three Iowa Men, Including Marine, Accused of Severe Beating

GRISWOLD, Iowa (KPTM) - Three Iowa men, including one Marine, have been arrested for nearly beating an Iowa teen to death.

Court documents obtained by KPTM FOX 42 News show the men were arrested for both planning and carrying out the attack on 19-year-old Cody Johnson of Cumberland, Iowa.

The three suspects are identified as 19-year-old Alexander Dvorak, a Marine stationed in California, 19-year-old Cody Hoggatt, and 18-year-old Jonathan Pilgreen

Dvorak is in custody in California. He will likely be extradited back to Iowa to face charges of attempt to commit murder, conspiracy and willful injury. Hoggat and Pilgreen face charges of conspiracy and willfull injury.

The court documents detail the circumstances around the attack. They allege the suspects went to Cumberland July 4 at about 2am to assault Johnson. The documents say the three men found Johnson, knocked him out and continued to beat him.

One of the suspects is accused of stomping on Johnson's throat hard enough to leave a shoe print on his skin.

Johnson was taken to an Omaha hospital. He now has multiple fractures to his face and breathing complications.
