    OMAHA (KPTM)- Historic buildings that have seen better days may have a new lease on life because Nebraska now has a law that gives tax credits to people to fix them up. “Not all buildings can be saved, but there are a lot of good ones that can be,” said Albert Macchietto. Macchietto is an architect at Alley-Poyner-Macchietto Architects. COUNCIL BLUFFS (KPTM)- Iowa polls closed at 8:00 Tuesday night and voting results have been calculated for the Council Bluffs and Carter Lake elections.

In the race for Council Bluffs Mayor, Incumbent Tom Hannafan has defeated challenger Matthew Hartfield.  

Tom Hannafan: 3,382
Matthew Hartfield: 830

In the City Council race Melissa Head captured the most votes.

Melissa Head: 2,042
Scott Porter: 1,677
Scott Belt: 1,744
Jay Kathol: 1,605

The council seats go to the top two candidates with the most votes.

In the race for Carter Lake Mayor Russ Kramer beat out Fritiz Dalheimer by just a narrow margin of votes.

Russ Kramer: 485
Fritz Dalheimer: 474

Barbara Melonis and Tim Parker received the most votes in the City Council Race in Carter Lake.

A low turnout was expected at the Iowa polls.

In the primary last month just over ten percent of registered voters cast ballots.

About twelve percent of registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday's general election.
