OMAHA (KPTM) - The celebration of Veterans' day took center stage at Omaha's Memorial Park.
Local politicians like Mayor Jim Suttle and Senator Ben Nelson showed their appreciation for America's past and present veterans.
"Today we celebrate and salute the men and women who have served so gallantly over the decades to keep us free. We offer them our appreciation, offer our thanks and our promise that we will never forget their service," says Vice Admiral Carl V. Mauney of the US Strategic Command.
"But our veterans never forgot the many others that were lost in the battles of those wars, while their work was heroic they simply saw it as their duty," says Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman.
"You've given so much and because of your unforgettable service and sacrifice we live in the greatest country in the world. So God bless our fighting men and women, God bless all our veterans and our families and may God continue to bless America," says Senator Ben Nelson.
"It is those that dawned the uniform that put the values of America before themselves, they put the people of America before themselves," says Congressman Lee Terry.
"That's why today we pay tribute to you and your families, and we give thanks that you stood up for our great nation, God bless you all," says Senator Mike Johanns
"Truly God bless the united, United States of America," says Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle.
