OMAHA (KPTM) - Crews from Nebraska Public Power District are currently working to restore service to several southeast Nebraska communities that lost power earlier Monday during a winter snow storm.
NPPD says crews are patrolling the lines to determine the extent of damage and are working to restore power as soon as possible.
Communities of Pawnee City, Table Rock, Burchard, Dubois, Humboldt, Dawson, Crab Orchard, Shubert, and Verdon were affected by the storm.
As of 2:30 p.m., about 6200 NPPD people are without power.
Heavy, wet snow has brought down tree branches onto power lines, which have brought down power lines and poles.
Reports of power outages began around 10:15 a.m.
People without power are advised to make alternative arrangements for shelter into the evening and overnight in anticipation of cold temperatures.
