ASHLAND, NE (KPTM) - A massive fire took out a barn south of Ashland Sunday morning. And a goat was trapped inside.
More than 40 firefighters from four different volunteer fire departments battled the flames.
Trent Seibert had just woken up when he noticed the barn was on fire. He said he could feel the flames from his front porch.
But that didn't stop him from running into the barn to fetch his goat.
"Instinct? I don't know. I just knew that was the only thing I had to get out. I knew she was in there and I knew she didn't want to get burned alive," Seibert said.
Seibert told Fox 42 News the barn went up in flames in less than 20 minutes.
He currently rents the farm and doesn't know what will become of the area where the barn used to sit.
"The yard looks a lot more bare, you can see the house from the road and that is kind of awkward to see because there is nothing here no more. It is just kind of bare," he said.
Seibert told Fox 42 News firefighters told him an electrical problem is to blame for the flames.
