Ralston City Council members officially approved the new Ralston Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Tuesday night.

Former Assistant Fire Chief Joe Eischeid stepped up to the role. He's been in the position for nearly a week.

He replaces Fire Chief Kyle Ienn, who died several weeks ago.

Eischeid says now the department will work on filling Eischeid's assistant fire chief position.

He says they hope to have that person nominated at the fire department's next business meeting on March 13
