OMAHA (KPTM) - Three people were taken to the hospital Monday afternoon when an SUV hit a car waiting to turn in a turn lane near 192nd and L streets.
The man driving the SUV was life-flighted to the hospital where he is in extremely critical condition.
A man and a girl in the car are expected to be okay.
Police say the driver of the SUV was speeding down 192nd, swerving in between lanes. The car was waiting to make a turn when the SUV was driving down the middle turn lane.
Police say both cars tried to avoid hitting each other. They turned the same direction and crashed.
Bystanders rushed to tend to the passengers while waiting for rescue crews to arrive.
Michelle Muhle pulled over while running errands and headed for the SUV. "He was trying to get out of his vehicle so me and some other people who had stopped encouraged him to stay in his vehicle and not move," said Muhle.
Others tried to calm the passengers in the car. Muhle described that someone was "holding her hand and encouraging her to breathe in through her nose and out through her mouth and just encouraging her to relax."
Muhle says accidents like these should remind people to slow down on the roads.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
