OMAHA (KPTM)- Police have arrested a man for stabbing a woman 4 times in front of her kids, and threatening to kill one of them Monday afternoon.
42- year old Jason Billingsley faces assault and terroristic threats charges.
Police say Billingsley approached Amy Phillips and her 3 and 4 -year- old sons when they were taking a walk around their neighborhood near 153rd and Davidson streets.
Police say Billingsley asked Phillips for a ride. She declined, saying she was taking her kids for a walk. Police say he then pulled a knife out, and threatened to kill her 4-year-old if she didn't give him a ride. Phillips got between her son and Billingsley, who in turn, stabbed her 4 times in the back.
Her injuries are not life threatening.
Neighbors say Billingsley had knocked on several other doors before approaching Phillips.
One neighbor who is a volunteer fire-fighter saw what happened, and chased Billingsley down the street. He was able to call 911 and keep police updates on Billingsley's whereabouts.
Neighbors say it's a safe area, but now they're being cautious. Neighbor Jordan Radley explained families always take walks around the neighborhood. "Today there's nobody walking anybody around, there's no kids out, it kind of seems people are a little bit in shock," he explained.
Neighbor Christina Cathcart said she's keeping a closer eye on her daughter. "We've been letting her go more on her own... so I don't think that will be happening."
Billingsley will have his bond hearing Wednesday morning.
