OMAHA (KPTM) - The Omaha South 12 and Under Little League team is getting ready to compete in a regional tournament in Missouri. But they don't have the money to make the trip. In total, the team is expected to spend $8,000. So far, they only have $300.

This is only the second year the team has played baseball and already they are the second best team in the state.

Team mom Amy Nicholson said, "Then they got on this winning streak looking back at the schedule. Win, win, and win. It blew our minds, I showed my son all the time and he is like wow oh my gosh! They really worked hard."

If the team wins the regional they will be heading to the Youth Triple SA World Series. If they don't raise the money, Thomas Nicholson told Fox 42 some parents won't be able to watch their kids play. He said baseball is a big part of these kid's lives and it helps keep them out of trouble.

"It is just really nice to see my boy do something other than sitting in the house," Amy Nicholson said.

The team will be holding a car wash on Saturday June 30th at the K-Mart on 50th and L from 12 to four. There will be refreshments available.

If you would like to donate to the team there is an account setup at the Wells Fargo on 72nd and Giles. It is under the name Cornhusker 12 World Series Donations.
