OMAHA (KPTM)- Jean Stothert will run for Omaha Mayor. She was surrounded by her family when she made the announcement.
"I am running to offer my 14 years of elected office experience to build a stronger and safer Omaha, where the opinions of the people will be heard and straight answers will be given. When it comes to city hall, I believe we can do better; in fact, we must do better,"
Stothert added, "Omaha faces important issues related to city finances and taxes, the need for more and better jobs and improvements in public safety. These and many other issues need a fresh approach with new leadership that appreciates the views of the citizens we serve."
The mayoral election will be held next May.
Mayor Suttle has already announced he'd run.
Wednesday night, former councilman Dan Welch said he is also entering the race.
Over the weekend Dave Nabity with the Omaha Alliance also made the announcement that he would run too.
State Senator Brad Ashford said he plans to make an announcement after Labor Day.
