OMAHA(KPTM)-- It's something people saw in color, that should have been seen in black and white.
"It's bringing a lot of people together that should have gotten recognition 60 years ago when we came back," said a war veteran participating in the parade.
Hundreds attended the parade where the war veterans proudly marched from the Century Link Center to T.D. Ameritrade Park.
It was only an hour long, but for many veterans, the parade was decades in the making.
Veterans wore uniforms along with their smiles as people waved the flag they fought for.
"People didn't appreciate what we did," said Terry Walsh. "It means I'm not a hero because a hero didn't come back, but I knew the hero."
But whether the men call themselves a hero or not--they finally got a hero's parade, a hero's salute and a hero's thank you.
