OMAHA(KPTM)-- Three hundred bags of ice is what the Travis gas station on 264th and Center calls being prepared for the 4th of July.
One employee says the station has been getting ready for the explosive holiday since May.
That's because it's the busiest holiday for gas stations.
"It's pretty non-stop," said Darlene Horlow. "It is our biggest holiday, it makes the summer."
With temperatures climbing into the three digits, she says people want a lot of ice, water and Gatorade.
It doesn't hurt that this station is near the Twin Rivers campsite. A lot of people there will be spending the 4th out on the lake, so keeping cool will be a priority.
"It is going to be around 100 for the next 4 or 5 days, so you just have to bear with it," said Don Kallhoff.
More hot customers means more bags of ice for the Travis gas station which, in turn, means more money in the register.
