Neglected Horses Rescued from Boone County

Posted: Updated:

BLAIR, Neb (KPTM)- Several dead and neglected animals  were found on someone's property near Petersburg in Boone County.

That is about 130 miles Northwest of Omaha.

The Nebraska Humane Society made the trip there Thursday to rescue nine horses that were stuck in what officials called "horrific conditions."

They said they got an anonymous tip about the neglect. The horses were brought back to the Omaha area.

Friday vets examined the animals at a facility in Blair.
They said the horses appeared to be starved. Some even had open sores on their bodies.
