OMAHA (NE) – One Omaha High School is trying to beat the heat when the first football game rolls around.
Brownell-Talbot is going to move its first football game on Friday, August 24th to 7:00 (CDT). The school will be installing temporary lights to light up Thomas and Jeanne Skutt Field when the Raiders take on Humboldt Table Rock Steinauer High School.
The main reason the school made the shift was because of the summer heat. The Raiders aren't used to play in late August and the school was worried the heat would affect the game and could put the student-athletes and the fans in danger.
"Hopefully it is going to be exciting, hopefully we are doing things on the field and executing our stuff and give them something to cheer about," Head Coach Mike Mancuso said.
The Raiders made the switch for the first game only. The remainder of the games at home will start at 4:00 PM (CDT).
