Forget about work.
Forget about school.
Forget about any responsibilities this Labor Day weekend.
Families at this event just want to play.
They play games. They get their faces painted. They even meet some of their favorite cartoon characters.
This is what makes September Fest a fest for these families—this and that the 4-day event gives them a break from their everyday lives.
"They started school and come here and get out of the house," says Mark Enders who brought his kids to the fest.
"Outdoor activities. Get them away from the games, away from the phones. Get them outside," says Tiffany Ruzicka who accompanies her daughter and niece.
The highlights for majority of the kids are the rides.
There are roller coasters, Ferris wheels and more—at adults can ride them also.
But a big bummer they say is the heat.
"You just wan to leave faster! It's too hot!" says Leyla Lillard.
"I want to be like in the shade," says James Haase. "It takes away from the fun because we get all tired and it's like we barely want to move."
"Put a dome over this with the air coming through. This would be like the most fun place ever," says Tynisha Jones who cannot bear the heat. "Like I would come all three days, like I would skip everything just to come to this."
Regardless of the heat or their sweat, everyone here stays and deals with it because they know September Fest ends Monday.
And all those responsibilities pick back up the next day.
