Window Woes for Omaha Man

Posted: Updated:

OMAHA (KPTM)-  The thought of thieves breaking into your home is scary, and as Keith Pawlusik noticed, his energy efficient windows might keep the cold out, but not the robbers.

"I was out in the kitchen, one of the screens I could see a little bit of the outside of it, and I pushed on it and it opened," said Pawlusik.

Pawlusik has lived in his home for 14 years, and installed "green" windows back in 2004. "After them being installed, I felt like superman," said Pawlusik.

Just last week, Pawlusik said his safe haven turned into something else. "It's a nightmare."

Pawlusik told Fox 42 that he's afraid to leave his home, because his windows open with the touch of a finger. "Pretty much with my fingers I was able to push up another screen."

Pawlusik said he isn't sure if it's the brand of windows, "WDMA Hallmark windows," or the installation.

He said he sure that he needs the windows fixed quickly. "I'm shop out in the sea ready to be robbed."

Pawlusik said, even when he locks the windows properly, there's still a little give. "It's a horrible feeling."
