FLOYD, IA (KPTM)- A man has been charged in the 2005 death of a 5-year-old
girl.
33-year-old Casey Frederiksen was charged with First Degree Murder and Sexual
Abuse.
Police believe he killed Evelyn Miller in Floyd, Iowa. Miller was reported
missing on July 1, 2005 by her mother. Frederiksen was the mother's boyfriend
at the time. Investigators with the Division of Criminal Investigation and the
Floyd County Sheriff's Office said that Evelyn Miller had been left in the care
of Fredricksen and the couple's two other children at the time.
Five days later two kayakers found Evelyn's body in the Cedar River between
Charles City and Floyd.
Over the course several years investigators said they got new information and
evidence suggesting Fredericksen was involved. Investigators said they got
complaints that he had changed his story about what happened during the day
Evelyn Miller disappeared.
Frederiksen is being held at the United States Penitentiary in Marion,
Illinois. He is serving up to 14 years on federal child pornography charges and
10 years on drug charges.
He will face trial in Floyd County.
