Hundreds Gather to Watch Presidential Debate

OMAHA (KPTM) – Hundreds gathered inside Lecture Hall Room 101 of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service building at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Wednesday Night.

They were watching the First Presidential Debate as part of DebateWatch 2012.

Barbara Pickering's Political Broadcasting class and Adam Tyma's Mass Communication and Public Opinion class hosted the event.

Everyone at the event was encouraged to use Twitter to discuss the issues about the debate. The hope, bring the public together to watch and discuss the televised debates.

Kelly Schultz, who was in attendance, said, "The campaign is really close and it is competitive and it would be interesting to see how the candidates debate."

This is the Third election UNO has shown the debate on the big screen.

The first presidential debate will focus on domestic policy. There are two more presidential debates on October 16th and 22nd. There will be a vice presidential debate on October 11.
