OMAHA (KPTM)- An ambitious group of four people set off on an adventure to travel thousands of miles through more than a dozen states. They are all packed into one RV. Some have only known each other a few months.
"I guess what were looking for is uncommon stories, people who are living uncommon lives, there are a lot of ways you can do different in the world but there are people who are doing it in a very different way," Klayton Korver said. "We're just a couple of friends who had a similar passion for telling stories about people across the country just doing incredible things."
It is all to travel across the country to meet people that are the heart of their hometowns. The better together tour kicked off its two month venture in Omaha. Other stops include Texas, Georgia and Tennessee.
Hundreds of people are making a difference, meeting the criteria they're looking for. But they chose to pull into the Dotzler family's driveway. They are the founders of the Abide Network.
"Their life is just infectious, just interact with them and share with them, they're excited everyday so that just makes our job so much more fun."
The family made a home in the heart of North Omaha nearly 25 years ago. The Dotzler's work with the youth and build up neighborhoods.
"They do so much from job placement to kids to basketball leagues, like buying foreclosed homes and fixing them up."
"We really believe that one day Omaha, Nebraska will have no inner city, I mean can you imagine that?" Ron Dotzler said.
The tour takes pictures and videos to captures as much as they can in a short time to document what they're doing. The next stop on the tour is in Salt Lake City to see a man who's been making wheel chair ramps for free.
