Three Finalists Selected in OPS Superintendent Search

OMAHA (KPTM)-Three finalists have been chosen in the search for Omaha Public Schools next superintendent.

They are Mark Evans, Steve Murley and Carey Wright.  

Evans has more than three decades of educational experience, including  17 years as an administrative leader in Wichita Public Schools. He is now in his eighth year as superintendent of Andover Public, the second fastest growing district in Kansas.  

Murley was appointed to the position of Superintendent of Schools in April 2010. Prior to joining the Iowa City Community School District, he served the Wausau School District, the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools and the Neenah Joint School District in Wisconsin.

Wright has more than 35 years of experience in the field of education. She served as the Chief Academic Officer for the District of Columbia Public Schools since June 2010.  Prior to that, she served as the Deputy Chief for the Office of Teaching and Learning.,

You can get to know the candidates in three meet and greet sessions next week.

They will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at 3215 Cuming Street.

Tuesday, December 11: Steve Murley

Wednesday, December 12: Carey Wright

Thursday, December 13: Mark Evans


Each meet and greet will include a 20-minute presentation by the candidate, followed by public questions.  

The school board vote on which candidate to choose at its December 17th meeting.
