UPDATE: Omaha police say have arrested 53-year-old Victor K. Gray in connection with the Christmas Eve Homicide.
Gray is being charged with second-degree murder.
OMAHA (KPTM)- Police have identified a man that was stabbed to death on Christmas Eve.
Police report that they found 42-year-old Milton Thomas suffering from stab wounds.
Officers were called to the scene at an apartment complex near 56th and Ames just before 6 p.m.
"Surprising. Kind of sad too that it happened on a holiday—it happened at all period really," said Eugene Skinner, who's lived in the apartment complex for eight years.
Neighbors said the incident is unexpected for their neighborhood.
"They usually quiet. I've been living here for a few years, never had any incidents like this," said Skinner.
"I come here everyday to see my nephew. So I really didn't expect nothing to happen, especially in this apartment complex," said Trandy Gunter—her brother lives in the apartment complex.
Police say Thomas was taken to the hospital with heavy bleeding. He died from the stabbing—and that news alerted others in the neighborhood to make sure their loved ones were accounted for.
"I'm on the phone with my brother, ‘Is you ok?' Had to see if everything was ok, nothing happened with him," said Gunter.
Police say they're still looking for the person who stabbed Thomas. Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (402) 444-5656.
