Creighton Senior To Hang Up Bball Cleats Due to Heart Problem

OMAHA (KPTM) – Josh Jones will be retiring from the game of basketball. The Senior guard for the Creighton Bluejays will undergo another heart surgery.

Jones blacked out before the Creighton-Nebraska basketball game December 6th, 2012. Jones who has a history of heart problems underwent a heart surgery a couple of weeks later. As a senior in high school Jones underwent open-heart surgery. He was able to finish his senior year at Omaha Central before starting his career at Creighton.

Jones had an atrial flutter which caused his heart rate to increase rapidly. He was hospitalized the evening of the 6th.

Jones finished his career as a Bluejay with 538 points and over 100 three pointers made. In 2011-212 Jones ranked 10th in the Missouri Valley Conference with 42.3 percent shooting from three-point range.

In a media conference on December 12th, Jones told members of the media he is working to finish his degree as a Public Relations/Journalism major.
