OMAHA (KPTM)- A man has died in what police are calling an "officer involved shooting" near 42nd and Pratt Streets.
Police have identified the man as 31-year-old Tyree Bell of Omaha.
Police said they were called to Bell's home around 4 AM Tuesday morning.
Police said, when they came on the scene, Bell was holding a shotgun and making threatening statements to police. He was also holding a child.
One witness, who didn't want to be identified, saw the whole thing. "For real, he asked for that. You've got 10 police cars out here, all of them got guns on you, you coming out the house with a 12-gage sawed off shotgun, pistol hammer-and you holding a baby in your arm?"
Police were on the scene for about two hours before Bell was shot.
The witness said Bell had been yelling at police and making threats. "It's a hostage situation too now! That's what he- I'm like dude, you serious-a kid man? You using a kid for a shield?" said the witness.
Police haven't said yet how many times Bell was shot, but they did say at least four officers fired their guns.
"They shot through the glass. I'm like that sound like a bee-bee gun, that don't sound like no real gun," said the witness.
Bell was pronounced dead just after he arrived at the hospital.
Police haven't identified the officers who fired the shots.
