OMAHA (KPTM) – Rookie athletes are taking the sporting world by storm. Newcomers Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson led their teams into the NFL playoffs. Freshman Nevin Johnson is tearing up the court for the Creighton Bluejays.

But one Creighton Prep swimmer may be on pace to shatter the record books after just two high school swimming meets, clearly this rookie is no stranger to the water.

Last night Jacob Molacek was half a second from setting the state record in the 100 yard-backstroke. He had a time of 50.06 and the state record held by former Creighton Prep swimmer Will Raynor of (49.43).

But Jacob has been swimming since the age of five. He didn't compete at the high school level because he has been home schooled. But this year he has his eyes set on breaking the state record. He then would like to reach his goal of competing in the Olympics.

"I couldn't think of anything, if I couldn't swim I would be a very sad individual, I love swimming," Molacek said.

The next swim meet for Creighton Prep is January 22^nd and Millard North.
