Woman Who Killed Landlord Died in Prison

OMAHA (KPTM)-  An Omaha woman recently sentenced to life in prison for  killing her landlord died Friday after being rushed to the hospital.

29-year-old Monique Lee collapsed at a women's prison in York Friday morning.

She's been there since being sentenced for murder in November.

Officials with Nebraska Corrections said she was being monitored since Thursday night after telling staff she wasn't feeling well.

Since she died in the state's custody a grand jury will investigate her death.

Lee pleaded not guilty to murder by reason of insanity back in 2010 after Karen Jenkins was found dead.

Lee and her brother killed Jenkins not long after Jenkins evicted Lee.
