OMAHA (KPTM) - Bullets flew in Omaha this weekend, sending nearly 10 people to the hospital in two days. Nine people were shot since late Friday night in Omaha, police say.
It started Friday night at the Lothrop Social Club near 24th and Lothrop.
Police say officers from the gang unit were in the area and heard shots just before midnight. Officers went into the club and found two people shot. They were taken to the hospital, where one of them, 21-year-old Jacquez Lewis died.
Two others, including a 14-year-old girl, were also shot and taken to the hospital in a car.
About four hours later, police were called to a house near 45th and A Street. Police say 23-year-old Paul Gordon had been shot. He went to the hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive. 22-year-old Paul Overgaard is a suspect in the shooting.
The third shooting happened at about 9:45 Saturday night. Again, four people were shot near 61st and Hamilton. Two men, Robert and Mick Foley went to the hospital. Two more men, Nicholas and Benjamin Rife showed up at another hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police say Benjamin Rife was arrested for attempted robbery.
Shootings weren't the only violent crimes reported Friday and Saturday. Police report at least five armed robberies. Two happened at local restaurants just before the lunch hour.
