One Million Cord of Reclaimed Timber Helps Form Furniture & Flooring Collections

Millinocket, Maine (PRWEB) February 13, 2013

West Branch Heritage Timber, a Maine company harvesting century long sunken lumber from the West Branch of the Penobscot River, has launched a line of engineered reclaimed flooring.

Utilizing a unique collection of wide plank birch, oak, pine, spruce, and fir milled by hand in Millinocket, Maine, West Branch Heritage Timber has crafted its "1899," "Penobscot," and "Riverdriver" collections.

"People can literally walk on a rich piece of Maine history," says Tom Shafer, Managing Partner of West Branch Heritage Timber

"The West Branch of the Penobscot was once the Interstate-95 for delivering wood to the lumber mills," adds Shafer. "Not all the wood made it. Lots of lumber sank or got lost along the way. We're reclaiming that 'lost forest' for furniture and flooring."

West Branch Heritage Timber has crafted reclaimed logs into three collections of engineered flooring:

  • The "1899" Collection offers wide plank varieties of Red Oak and Yellow Birch.
  • The "Penobscot" Collection offers a wide plank assortment of Pine.
  • The "Riverdriver" Collection offers 40" lengths of Spruce and Fir.

"The waters of the Penobscot River have protected the timber from deterioration and ingrained the wood with an amazing assortment of grays, blues, and reds," shares Steve Sanders, a partner at West Branch Heritage Timber. "Cut by hand, this lumber has characteristics found in no other wood."

West Branch Heritage Timber offers its specialized flooring for commercial and residential projects from its mill in Millinocket. Lean more about the flooring lines, the mill, and the project at http://www.WestBranchHeritageTimber.com
