COUNCIL BLUFFS (KPTM)- For one young man, the snow storm left a bigger mark than just several inches of snow.
When he went to go out, he noticed one important thing was missing. He said that thieves targeted him specifically.
Kevin Garbez knows all about cars. "As soon as Is could reach into an engine bay, I was in one," said Garbez.
Garbez has spent years on everything with wheels, from motorcycles to racing pick up trucks.
"It's something you can put energy into that comes out into a finished product that you're proud of," said Garbez.
He build his Chevy truck from the frame up. "It's a completely custom vehicle."
Garbez was working on Thursday when he went out to run an errand. When he got into the parking lot, he noticed his truck wasn't there.
"I was crushed," said Garbez. "My pride and joy, just being gone like that. I was speechless, I still am speechless."
His truck was stolen right when the snow storm began, and Garbez said the thieves left a smaller stolen car behind. "I guess they saw my lifted Chevy, and figured it would get around good in the snow."
This after Garbez finally paid off the car just the day before. "This is the first time since I've bought the truck that I've had it completely paid off," said Garbez. "One-hundred percent mine. It was one-hundred percent mine for one day."
