"Our foundation believes in building a better future for families. However, with the current economy, resources are limited and it's hard for our program to do everything we want to do for the people that we serve," said Gloria Pino, general coordinator of NYC for MLMIF. "Thanks to the CITGO Fueling Good program, we will be able to help more families and individuals by increasing the number of social projects we can do."

Founded in 2000, the Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation was created to bring families together through the integration of educational programs that strengthen family values, life skills and professional capacities. The social programs offered by MLMIF include higher education, health and ecologic programs, such as local park clean-ups. MLMIF also promotes gender equality, a healthy home environment and prevention of all forms of abuse. Since 2007, 27 MLMIF offices have been established in nine states to support immigrant families as they prepare to be model citizens in their newly adopted country.

Over the past four years, CITGO has donated more than a million miles of good to more than 200 local heroes and non-profit organizations through its Fueling Good program. In the latest campaign, an all-time record of more than 300,000 votes were cast to determine the 12 winning 501(c)(3) organizations.
