OMAHA (KPTM) - A raucous crowd at Creighton's D.J. Sokol Arena learned the fate of the men's basketball team Sunday as it heads into the NCAA Tournament.

The Jays, having received the seventh seed in the Midwest Region, will square off against #10 Cincinnati Friday in Philadelphia.  Creighton's position in this year's Big Dance is actually one step up from last year when the team got stuck with the #8 seed en route to a loss to North Carolina.

The exact time for tip-off has yet to be settled, but fans and players alike say they're ready to go for what promises to be a tough tournament.

"We've just got to come out and play like we did in St. Louis," said Creighton star Doug McDermott.  "We've got to come out with a lot of energy both offensively and defensively and run the floor."

"Creighton always seems to be up to the task when it comes to big games," said die-hard fan Ron Andrews.  "It's going to be quite a challenge though because there are a lot of big name schools out there."

As for the talk surrounding Creighton's possible transition to the Big East, there's still no official word from the school about what will happen, but national reports indicate the move is imminent and would put the Jays in the conference starting next season.
