OMAHA (KPTM)- Douglas County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man accused of stealing delivery packages from people's front porches Monday.
26-year-old Hugo Sanchez is charged with four counts of theft.
Officials said it didn't look like Sanchez followed the UPS truck. They said he was more likely just driving through neighborhoods looking for packages.
The sheriff's office said one man went out to grab his package, and noticed someone else had done that already.
The said he saw the car and tracked it down. He got the license plate number, and that lead officials to Sanchez's home, where they said they found the stolen items.
"This is what neighborhood watch is all about," said Douglas County Chief Deputy, Marty Bilek. "He got the license plate number, the one piece we needed."
"He also had a description of the suspect that was very helpful and that's how we were able to solve this so quickly," said Bilek.
Bilek said he's in the process of returning the stolen items.
He said the best way to avoid something like this is to keep watch of your tracking number, and be home when the package is delivered.
