OMAHA (KPTM)- An eight year old boy is battling cancer and needs your help.

His family and friends are holding a fundraiser in his name to help cover all the medical bills.

For eight-year-old Justin Easdale, he can build anything with his legos. "I always build a lot of stuff with them. I use my mind to build other things too," said Justin. "They turn out pretty cool."

Justin is a quiet kid, but he hasn't always been that way.

"The radiation is definitely taking its toll on him," said Jeff, Justin's father.

In January, Justin had a fever that wouldn't go away. "From the time we scheduled the appointment, to the time we got there, his right eye crossed in and he went paralyzed on the right side of his face," said Jeff.

During an MRI, doctors found a tennis ball sized tumor in the back of his brain. "I mean you go in for a fever, and you find out that it's a brain tumor," said Jill, Justin's mom. "It's just, the worst news I could ever imagine."

When Justin woke up the next morning from surgery, he found a little surprise. "I lost a tooth and the next morning I got four dollars and seventy-two cents and a card from the tooth fairy."

Even if Justin saved every penny from the tooth fairy, that still wouldn't cover his rising medical costs. He takes multiple medicines each day to help him cope.

A fundraiser Saturday, March 23rd, is being held in his honor. It's called ‘Justin's Journey.' It's being held at Westside Church on 156th and Dodge, from 5:30 to 8 PM.

All of the proceeds will go to help keep Justin smiling.

"He's loved and he's seen that first hand," said Jeff.

Justin had a rare moment of energy and played legos with his brother Jax for a couple of minutes. Jill had a smile on her face the whole time.

"I take in the moments when he's laughing and smiling and playing with his brother," said Jill.

For now, Justin's bike will sit untouched as he spends his time fighting cancer, and playing legos.

When Justin was asked what he would build if he could build anything, he answered "A city."

"Sometimes I build airplanes and helicopters like they're supposed to be and add extras on them," said Justin.

Justin is busy building a place where he can do anything, even beat cancer.
