OMAHA (KPTM) – It is going to be the battle of the blue and white on Sunday when the Creighton Bluejays take on the Duke Blue Devils in the third round of NCAA tournament.
The Bluejays advance after beating the Cincinnati Bearcats 67-63 in the second round of the NCAA tournament in Philadelphia, PA.
Junior forward Doug McDermott who finished the day with a double double of 27 points and 11 rebounds led the Bluejays. He also broke his own single-season score record.
Creighton struggled early committing five turnovers in the first five minutes. But the Bluejays were able to keep it close with some high percentage shooting; they were 45.2 percent for the game.
The Bluejays were up by five at the half. However, late in the game the Bearcats tied the game up at 54 with about three minutes left in the game. Creighton would retake the lead and hold on to a six-point lead with just over a minute left in the game. In the end Austin Chatman drained a free throw with 3.6 seconds left on the clock to give the Bluejays the victory.
