OMAHA (KPTM) - An Omaha man faces up to five years in prison for pointing a laser at aircraft.

A federal jury convicted 30-year-old Michael Smith Wednesday for beaming a light at a Southwest Airlines plane last July.  Authorities say Smith also shined a light at an Omaha Police helicopter.

A district judge has scheduled Smith's sentencing for July 22nd.  In the meantime, he will be in federal custody.
