Boys Town Behavioral Health Center Now Open

Posted: Updated:

OMAHA (kptm) - There's more demand for behavioral health services.  Now, a new center in Boys Town is ready to serve more families.

"Raising a child is the most important job in the world.   Raising a child is the hardest job in the world," Dr. Pat Friman says.

Boys Town is now trying to make that job easier.  A new behavioral health center is now open.  It's meant to help families who are having problems or those just needing a little assistance.  "There's so much help for parents that are maybe even just having problems with normal parenting problems.  Raising children like he said if one of the hardest jobs and so there are so many assets here at boys town that you can tie into to get the help that you need," Michelle Saub says.

Saub and her family went thru a divorce 5 years ago.  Her three daughters had a hard time processing what was going on.  So her pediatrician recommended they check out Boys Town, to talk thru the feelings they were having.  "It has been a true blessing to me and my family to be able to be here…my girls are always excited to come, they never feel like they're going to the doctor per say and so it's a welcoming environment," Saub says.

In the past, the clinic has had to turn away families due to space constraints.  Previously they were only able to serve about a thousand people a year.  Now with this new 28,000 square foot brick building they're able to serve up to 5,000 kids a year.  "It's a symbol of boys town's commitment to helping troubled children and their families," Dr. Friman says.

From school problems to bad habits and disorders, the staff is there to help handle the difficult issues that come up.
