Recent Shootings Leave South Omaha Neighbors on Edge

Posted: Updated:

OMAHA (KPTM)- Two people were critically injured in a shooting Monday morning. Police said 22-year-old Stevie Goin and 21-year-old Zach Ricard were shot at an apartment complex near 41st and D.

The crime tape was up all day on Monday. Residents living in the apartment complex had to be escorted by the police department to and from the community.  One family even stopped by to apply to live there. But they were turned off by the crime tape.

"I was worried and so was my mom that she might have got shot," Samantha Antillon said. "I think it's bad because shootings affect kids cause they can't play outside.”

The double shooting is the second of its kind in the area recently. Just two weeks ago three people were killed by gunfire just a few blocks away.

"I don't feel safe for my kids. And people are just coming up here shooting people. It's just not right," Nicole La Vallie said. "I'm looking to move because I heard the little girl was in the house when it happened. That's not right."
