COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA (KPTM) - It's been said that charity begins at home, but in this case charity gives a home. The Ross family of Council Bluffs lost its home Sunday when the driver of a car crashed his vehicle into the Ross' home rendering it unlivable.  But the kind act of Ranetta Riley of Council Bluffs saved the day.

Riley owns a vacant house seven blocks away from the scene of the devastating accident. She offered the home to the Ross' for free until they get back on their feet.

"They can live here indefinitely," said Riley.

When asked why she offered the home she said it was the right thing to do. "I think being kind is what we need more of in this world. Whenever we can be kind we should do it.," said Riley.

Troy Ross called it a blessing. "It's such a relief to know that people out there will help someone in need. I'm just speechless," said Ross.

The new home comes with a fenced in back yard for three dogs. It will also provide a safe place for two-year old Nolan to play.

"I can't believe it. I will pay this forward some day," said Ross.
