Council Bluffs (KPTM) – Children's Square unveiled the replacement of a bronze statue that was stolen from the campus in 2011.
The statue is named Jason and was first placed in near the Lemen Visitor's Center two decades ago.
Officials describe the new Jason as taller and a little more modern in styling but they say he carries the same spirit.
"It just wasn't the same to not have that icon of our hope for the future," said Carol Woods, president of Children's Square.
"He is the image of our children running into the future, and so we wanted him back."
Jason is in the Discovery Garden on the campus. Woods says it is the most central part of the grounds, and that more children will get to interact with it."
"It's actually closer so I can see it every day when I come in," said 8-year-old, Merric. He's been there since he was child and remembers when Jason was taken.
"It's hard to get used to not having a statue that's been there for such a long time," Merric said.
This statue is the symbol on the organizations flag, pins and the stationary. They say after 18 months it is good to have him embodied on the campus again.
