Omaha(KPTM)-It's an unlikely reunion of a ring and it's owner, after a customer found it in an unlikely place. Tonya Ward says she found a diamond ring while she was eating an egg roll she purchased from Mekong, a market near her home. When Ward found out the owner had lost the ring, she was excited to bring it back to her.
We tagged along with Ward when she went to the store to return the ring to its owner, Lieu Vo, who says she'd just tried to cash a large check from a customer, and it didn't go through. "I have had so many people take advantage of me before at this store," said Vo who added she lost the ring while making hundreds of the rolls which were frozen then sold at her store.
Unfortunately, the return of the ring can't save Mekong Market, which she says will be closing down next week after 30 years in South Omaha because of financial difficulties. Vo says she has gained something out of the situation besides her lost jewelry, she says Ward's gesture of kindness helped return her trust.
