OMAHA (kptm) - Wednesday marks the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

One man's mural honoring the victims, rolled into town earlier this week.  It has people from all over the state coming to check it out.

"The Rolling Memorial" lists every single person's name killed on 9/11, including those from the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and all four airplanes that went down that day.

It weighs about 35,000 pounds.  It's transported on 18 wheels and cost roughly $40,000.

The semi is a memorial intended to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks.  Mary Lynn Vogt drove to Omaha just to check it out.  "Seeing the truck, it just brings back so many memories, I can remember exactly that day when it happened.  To see the people, you know what they had to go through, trying to get away from it all, it's terrible," Vogt said.

She said it's a day that shouldn't be forgotten and that's why she had to see the mural, but she wasn't the only one.  Cheryl Olsen also came to Memorial Park specifically to see the mural.  "This is amazing with all of the names, crew members, the pictures of the towers and we just didn't want to let this opportunity go by," she said.

And that's exactly what the man who designed it wanted.  John Holmgren said he got the idea of "The Rolling Memorial" after hearing the song "Have You Forgotten."  He wanted to make sure no one ever forgot.

"I think especially since this was such a terrible time in our country, it brought all of us together anyway, that we can't forget this.  We are more vulnerable, then we have been in the past, we can't take things for granted, like we have in the past and freedom comes at a high price," Olsen said.

The tribute to the victims of 9/11 will be at Memorial Park through Friday, September 13th, 2013.

One of the creator's purposes of the mural was also to bring attention to the orphans who lost their parents on 9/11.
