OMAHA (kptm) - People in Nebraska are doing everything to help the flood victims in Colorado, from collecting monetary donations to sending volunteers.

A store owner in the Old Market started a Colorado flood relief drop off site in her shop.

Carol Beard says she used to live in Estes Park and seeing the damage the water is causing is heartbreaking.

That's why she decided to set up a drop off location.  Specifically for cleaning supplies, to bring Estes Park back to what it once was.  "We want to be able to give back.  They have the beauty of the mountains there.  All of us have fond memories of spending our vacations there, so this is an opportunity for us to give back and help restore it to it's beauty," Beard says.

She says seeing Estes Park swept away by raging water brings her to tears.  She couldn't just sit back and watch.  She had to help.  "We want to be able to give them free items and show that Omaha, Nebraska has got Estes Park's back."

So she's asking for people to donate supplies, "we are not looking for cash donations, because people have some cash but they don't have the products…"

Items like toilet paper, scrub brushes, Ziploc's and trash bags.  "There isn't enough of that, that the stores can even bring in to facilitate a whole community."

And more importantly, cleaning supplies to prevent the spread of bacteria.  "We are needing rubber boots, we are needing masks because there's going to be a lot of mold there.  Pine Sol, bleach products…one thing that is very important are tubs because when they come home, they're going to find whatever items that are salvageable and they're going to put them in the tubs with a nice lid on them and they'll be able to keep them and sort them at another time," she said.

Saving whatever they can from the past to begin a new future.  "The Estes Park I used to know, I know won't be there anymore but we know it's going to be rebuilt and it's going to be beautiful."

She will be accepting donations Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Urban By Design off 13th street in the Old Market.  The exact address is 517 South 13th Street.

Beard says they'll be collecting donations through the 26th of September.  On the morning of the 27th they plan to drive out to Estes Park to help clean up.
