OMAHA (kptm) - Police are looking into the death of woman who they say was found dead in her apartment earlier this afternoon.

Tuesday morning Omaha Police identified the woman as Trudie McKee. Robert Grant was arrested in the case. He faces Homicide and Weapons charges.

Neighbors tell Fox 42 the woman's daughter came home from school and saw her mother lying in a pool of blood.

Investigators were in and out of the building at The Blossoms apartment complex all day on Tuesday.

Residents were not allowed to enter the area; crime scene tape blocked it off.  One neighbor said he heard screams and then police arrived.

Neighbor Scott Gale said it's a scene he'll never forget.  "Heard the daughter go in because the doors slam here and then she came out screaming that her mom was dead, had her throat slit."

Police say they're now searching for clues at the apartment complex.  Trying to piece together how a mother ended up dead and what happened while her daughter was at school.

Neighbors say they heard the woman arguing with her boyfriend often.  "When you'd go downstairs you would hear fighting, but what couple doesn't fight?   Theirs was a little extreme I guess you would say," Gale said.

He said he saw the man just last night and now he's worried for his own safety.  "Makes you a little hesitant that the guys going to come back around or anything you know."

And, Gale said he hopes police work quickly to find the man.  "It's pretty scary.  It hits close to home."

Detectives continue to interview witnesses; they urge anyone with information to contact the homicide unit at 444-5656.
