OMAHA (KPTM)- The United States Marshal for the District of Nebraska completed a strategic violence reduction enforcement operation that removed over 249 individuals tied to gangs, violence, narcotics, and sex offenses.
This is the second straight year for Operation Triple Beam in the Omaha metro area. It was a fifteen week operation to reduce criminal activity associated with gangs, violence, narcotics, and sex offenders.
249 total arrests were made and 72 of them had gang affiliations. 67 firearms were seized. A wide variety of drugs were confiscated. Officers also conducted 149 sex offender compliance checks that resulted in 4 arrests.
“In addition to the arrests, seizures and immediate impact on gang and criminal activity, a strong U.S. Marshal / Omaha Police department relationship was made even stronger. Another benefit which is often overlooked is the sustainability factor which results from these enforcement collaborations. The bond and trust formed among these law enforcement officers during the 30 weeks of these two operations will translate into
future shared communications about crime suspects, wanted persons, and other crime intelligence. This sustainability factor is a benefit not often publicized but should not be underestimated because the focus of these types of operations tends to be on hard statistics”, said U.S. Marshal Martinez.
