OMAHA (KPTM)- A woman has filed a police report against her upstairs neighbor. She said he is disturbing her peace.
Mary Hickey said a man in the apartment above hers poured soapy liquid, water and urine into her apartment. Hickey said he did this by drilling holes through his floor, which is over her apartment. She believes the man has mental issues and stopped taking his medication.
Hickey said she has been living in her living room instead of her bedroom. When she went into her bedroom she said she stepped into a puddle of urine. She said the liquid landed all over her bed and carpet.
Hickey said management at Mercy House Timbercreek Apartments near 138th and Harrison blew her off and tried to deny that anything happened.
"They handled this so badly. They should have known not to let it escalade so bad."
It took management ten days to clean the urine off of the floor. A couple of weeks after that management decided to seal the holes in the ceiling.
A couple of weeks after the urine incident, police said the man also poured a soapy liquid and cold water through the ceiling holes. This time it landed on Hickey who was asleep.
"I'm very nervous. I'm very nervous."
She has filed a few police reports since May. Even though maintenance has fixed her ceiling, she said no one has punished her upstairs neighbor.
"Through all of this and the six months that this has been going on, management has not offered to help."
Hickey is currently talking with a lawyer to see what her rights are. She said she strongly believes that management could have done something sooner to prevent this problem from escalating to where it is now.
Management said it will not comment on any tenant issues unless given permission through the corporate office.
Fox 42 also spoke with another neighbor who said the same man threatened to kill her if she went to the police. She said she is filing a restraining order.
