OMAHA (KPTM)- A south Omaha church was vandalized twice this week—both within 48 hours. It happened at Seventh Day Church near 22nd and L Street.
Blue and yellow paint is splattered all over the walls inside the church. White powder covers just about every inch of the floors and furniture. The vandals certainly left their marks and messages after wrecking the place twice. Members of the church want to know one thing—why?
"We get in here we find a big mess. Most the people have respect for God. It's something like, you cannot figure out," said church member Audberto Alvarado.
Graffiti is plastered all over the outside of the building. Not only did the vandals trash the place, they didn't leave empty handed.
"Was missing a laptop, missing a bass and a saxophone," said Alvarado.
Now the church will boost its security and get stronger doors.
"More latches and stuff and we going to put some cameras," said Alvarado.
Members said the damage is not breaking their spirits. All they want is their saxophone and bass so that they can continue worshiping in church.
Members and neighbors believe a group of students may have done the damage. South high school is on the next street west of the church.
If you think you may know something about who did this, you're asked to call Crimestoppers at 402–444–STOP.
